Forecasting

The National Electricity Forecasting Project is a high priority for AEMO. It aims to develop independent electricity forecasts for the National Electricity Market (NEM) as a whole, and for each of the five NEM regions. As part of this project, AEMO plans to make the forecasting process transparent through the availability of historical datasets, input assumptions, and forecasting models and methodology. The first version of the main forecasting report will be made available in mid-2012, with a series of information papers released periodically during the first half of 2012.

Information Papers

The first information paper in this series represents a short introduction of the issues and methodology that AEMO uses when developing demand forecasts for the NEM. It also provides an outline of the project and data requirements. The concepts presented in this first paper will be discussed in greater detail in subsequent information papers.
