AEMO’s national planning reports (National Transmission Network Development Plan (NTNDP) and Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO)) use a common set of study assumptions. Some assumptions will also be used for the Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO), Victorian Annual Planning Report (VAPR) and South Australian Supply and Demand Outlook (SASDO).
The Planning Studies 2012 Consultation incorporates the 2012 NTNDP Consultation, and the consultation paper includes AEMO’s proposals for the 2012 NTNDP.
The formal consultation period closed on 13 March 2012. AEMO received six submissions, which are published below.
AEMO is also working with stakeholders to understand how the 2012 NTNDP can usefully address issues that are emerging in the energy market.
These issues might include matters considered in the Energy White Paper being developed by the Australian Government Department of Energy, Resources and Tourism (DRET), the Australian Energy Market Commission’s Transmission Frameworks Review and the Productivity Commission’s Public Inquiry into Electricity Network Regulation.
AEMO encourages stakeholders to provide their views during the first half of 2012. While AEMO endeavours to take account of all views, if views are received earlier they are more likely to have an impact on the 2012 NTNDP.
Any questions about the consultation should be sent by email to: planning@aemo.com.au.

WorleyParsons Report - Cost of Construction New Generation Technology |
The “WorleyParsons Report - Cost of Construction New Generation Technology” available here replaced a previous version that was uploaded on 30 January 2012. The current version includes minor changes to the variable operating and maintenance costs.
Please note: In the attached technology costs report, AEMO has chosen not to have the costs of OCGT construction updated this year.
The scenarios document contains a description of an additional scenario (slow growth) that has not been used in the production of the projected fuel costs and the technology costs.
