AMDQ
The quantity of authorised MDQ or AMDQ credit certificates is used in the determination of ancillary payments and uplift payments for a Market Participant for each scheduling interval of the gas day, as determined in accordance with procedures under Rule 239 and 240 in Part 19 of the National Gas Rules (NGR).
Release of authorised MDQ (Maximum Daily Quantity)
Rule 330 (4) of the NGR stipulates that where there is sufficient available authorised MDQ (AMDQ) to satisfy the requirements of all persons who have requested an allocation of AMDQ, AEMO must allocate the available AMDQ to each of those persons in respect of a delivery point or system withdrawal point free of charge.
If there is insufficient available authorised MDQ to satisfy the requirements of all persons who have requested an allocation of AMDQ, AEMO must conduct an auction amongst all persons from whom AEMO has received requests for authorised MDQ and allocate the available AMDQ to the persons who offer the highest amount for that AMDQ in accordance with the Wholesale Market AMDQ Auction Procedures published below.
AMDQ users may request for an allocation using the form (Request/Bids for authorised MDQ). Guidance notes (Guidelines for Applicants – Release of Authorised MDQ 2011) on the release of AMDQ are also available.

AMDQ Auction (only active during an auction)
Please be advised there will not be a 2012 AMDQ Auction. AEMO has reviewed, in accordance with National Gas Rules 330, the available authorised MDQ and has determined that the authorised MDQ returned to AEMO since the completion of the 2011 AMDQ Auction (May 2011) is insufficient to conduct an auction in 2012.
For all correspondence relating to applications for the AMDQ Auction bids, an email address has been created to assist in the management of this process. This email address is only active during an AMDQ auction.
