This page reports information on the capacity of existing, withdrawn, committed, and proposed generation projects in the National Electricity Market (NEM). AEMO collects generation information reported here from generation industry participants, via a web-based online system, and is committed to publishing updates of information collected every six months, or as required.

From 18 July 2019, the Generation Information data will be published within one consolidated "NEM" data file, and continue to provide information for each region in the NEM about:
- Existing and committed scheduled and semi-scheduled generation capacities over the next 10 years.
- Changes and limitations to existing generation.
- Proposed developments.
- Existing non-scheduled generation.
- Expected closure year (values are correct at the time of "NEM" data file publication).
Any updated expected closure years provided following the publication of the “NEM” data file (as per NER 2.2.1(e)(2A)) are found in the "Generating Unit Expected Closure Year" file below.
This file represents the most up to date collection of closure timings.
October 2019 update
Contrary to media reports in October 2019, CS Energy has not changed the retirement date of Callide B that is now recorded in AEMO's 'Generating Unit Expected Closure Year'. The design life of Callide B is 40 years, ending in 2028-29.
AEMO acknowledges the 2018 Integrated System Plan (ISP), published in mid-2018, used a generic NEM-wide coal-fired generation fleet assumed operating life of 50 years from full operation, or announced retirement date, as part of its expedited modelling methodology.
AEMO has been formally advised of Callide B's 40 year design life, and will reflect this timing in the 2019-20 ISP.
